La Peninsula Community Organization is an established provider of daycare services within the Bronx.  To expand its Manida Street facility and to provide space for La Peninsula’s administrative offices, an addition, on two floors and a basement was planned to be constructed on an adjoining lot. The building adds eight classrooms, an indoor play room, facilities for parent training, counseling and staff accommodations as well as space for the administration offices.

Form and color endow the exterior with a playful expression welcoming to its young users and gives each classroom a recognizable identity. The building roof is configured to introduce natural light into the building interiors from clerestory windows.
