I.S. 324 Library and Media Center

The space within a Brooklyn school is transformed into a new Library and Media Center.

To project the importance of learning and provide 21st century computerized educational tools for Intermediate School 324 in Brooklyn, an antiquated 1974 library was replaced with a cutting-edge library and media center. Reading spaces with open stacks, surround a central rotunda which houses a technology center, conference room, office and workroom. Interior windows from these administrative spaces enable discrete visual monitoring of library activities.

Together with the architectural design composition, details, materials, lighting and furnishings, as well as the integration of an existing PAPS sculpture, provide this facility with a calm and serene, yet stimulating environment for education.
